Trip to Agafay Desert from Marrakech

If you don’t have enough time to drive through mountain passes, but still want to leave Marrakesh to spend the night in a beautiful setting, you can make a trip to the Agafay desert, located about 40 km from Marrakesh.

The Agafay desert is not like the desert with fine sand dunes we all imagine. It is a large moon-like plateau, ideal to spend the night in a haima or in a thick-wall adobe house, where you will enjoy a wonderful evening with and exotic touch.

You will be able to ride a horse, hike, go paragliding, and even canoe around the artificial lake in Lalla Takerkoust.

There is a golf course in the Agafay desert, as well as several accommodations with pools, and some walking and biking paths for the whole family. You can also ride a camel, which are perfect to enjoy the sunset against the backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains.
